DAY 14 – Himachal Pradesh

There’s always that one trip that is super amazing; one that you know you can never replicate. An all-girl trip, it was fairly unplanned and certainly not thought through. To add to the drama, I wasn’t even sure about making it for this trip until the day of our departure due to a hectic work schedule. But my gang of girls and I pulled it off somehow and a memorable adventure followed.

Soumi, Irene and I

One of my best friends had never seen snow and so, while our trip wasn’t a planned one, we were determined to find snow. An Internet research led us to complete an intriguing tribal circuit in Himachal Pradesh that comprises little towns like Sarahan, Sangla, Chitkul and Kalpa. Thanks to their ‘relatively unknown’ status, we were able to visit places that are to be touched by the slimy hands of civilisation.

We mingled with the locals, discovered some quaint cafes, did some very foolish things—among which getting lost on an uphill road in pitch darkness tops the list—but we did one thing right. We found snow. We found an entire patch of land covered in snow where we were the only people. It was like our personal snowy playground. It was a trip full of madness and camaraderie, one of the most enjoyable trips of my life.
