About me

Hello and welcome to Traveller Stories!

My name is Ruchika Vyas and I began travelling almost six years ago. I didn’t quit my job to travel nor did I take up blogging to enable me to quit my job, simply because I love my job. I have been a writer, editor and a photography hobbyist for nine years, so blogging is merely an extension of my primary job, without changing its essence.

I have written extensively for print and online as part of my portfolio. I worked for The Times of India for four years, and wrote on topics that range from food and travel to fashion and fitness to celebrity interviews and home décor. I even had the opportunity to attend and cover the Golden Globe Awards in 2012 for MumbaiMirror.com. My work has been published in prominent publications and websites, such as Lonely Planet, Travel+Leisure, Conde Nast Traveller.in, Mumbai Mirror, CNN Travel, Femina, Travel Wire Asia, iDiva and TheLabel.in. I also had the opportunity to be one of the contributing writers of Outlook Traveller Getaways’ book Driving Holidays in India—the recipient of the National Tourism Award 2008-2009 for Best Travel Publication in English. I am currently a travel columnist with iDiva.com.

I used to run a tiny chocolate shop from home called The Chocklit Shoppe, so when I’m not travelling, I’m making chocolates and baked goods, dancing or watching TV shows.

I have also been featured among top travel bloggers in India:

ABOUT TRAVELLER STORIES
I started this blog simply to share my travel experiences on one platform with the hope to inspire people to start travelling too. I write about solo travelling, destinations, hotels/hostels/homestays I stayed in, restaurants or cafes I like, local food that I recommend trying, photographs that captured a memorable moment worth sharing, new places I found out about, places that I wish to visit…anything and everything that I know and love about travel.

How did my travel journey begin? Read my story here.

Dear Sathiskumar,

Thank you so much, but I am now based in Dubai so I won't be able to attend this bloggers meet I'm afraid. You can always email me at ruchika@travellerstories.com in the future.
